About Us
Where Our Story Began

Lendang Nangka is a village on the island of Lombok in Indonesia, one of our nearest neighbouring countries. It's where our parents first met many years ago when they were traveling in South East Asia.

When they visited Lendang Nangka on their travels, our parents met each other when they stayed with Pak Radiah, a school principle, who had a house with spare rooms. He rented out rooms in his house to tourists for extra income and to interact with foreigners. He was a great host. When they returned to Lendang Nangka with us, many years later, we visited Pak Radiah and met his granddaughter, Hasanah, who was 13 years old at the time.

We spent time with Hasanah a few times during our stay and played card games and talked with her, since she was learning to speak English. She was obviously very bright and curious about the world.
We talked about her school and life and we asked her what she would like to do after finishing school. She told us that she would stay in the village and would likely get married and have children soon, like most of the young women in Lendang Nangka. She shared with us that she would love to go on to University after finishing school, however this was an impossible dream since her family could never afford it. She was the youngest of 9 children and her father's work provided only a small income for his family.

We decided to support Hasanah to go to university to continue her education and to have the opportunity to create a different future for herself.

With our financial support Hasanah completed her undergraduate degree majoring in social economic science from Mataram State University in January 2018. And in 2021 she completed a masters degree in Elementary Education at Yogyakarta University, a huge achievement!
Since graduating she has worked as a school teacher as well as setting up a business in her village, which helps to support her mother; since her father passed away a few years ago.

Hasanah has benefited and blossomed in so many ways from going to University and wanted to help other bright girls in a similar position to continue their educational journey.
She was aware that many of the girls in her village do go to school these days however none of them get the opportunity to go to University and this limits their choices in life.
Most of the girls will get married and have children soon after finishing school and will not work outside of their homes. Some of them feel frustrated that they cannot continue with their education and have good jobs and businesses and be involved in making decisions in their communities.

Since meeting Sanah we have worked with her to identify other capable girls who are keen to continue their education. We have successfully supported six girls into University. We ask for your support in helping more girls reach towards their potential, by contributing to the cost of University fees and accommodation. Their lives really can be changed with the opportunities that higher education brings.
Thank you for Contributing and Investing in these Girls and their Futures.

We are sisters, Ebeni and Zoe, and we grew up in Australia. We visited Lendang Nangka with our parents in 2012, when we were 9 and 8 years old, and this visit inspired the idea of raising money to support girls to continue their education into University and beyond.
