
Opi
Introduction
Opi is a bright girl who outside of school enjoys mountain climbing, cycling, swimming, fishing and travelling. She has two older siblings, neither of whom went to university. Her father works as a labourer and her mother, a household assistant. With the added costs of housing, food and general living expenses, her parents income cannot extend to covering a university education.
Despite a low family income, Opi still aspires to go to university. She wants to major in Management at Mataram University. In this major she says she will be able to develop skills to be able to learn skills to become a successful businesswoman.

We asked Opi why education is valuable to women?

“I want to make my family proud and happy of being the first graduate in my family. I also want to encourage more girls in my village to go to university. By continuing to learn we can gain employment, make wise decisions and help the people around us”.
