Khansa

Introduction

Khansa is a very bright student in her third and final year of high school. On our recent visit we really enjoyed visiting her school and talking to her. She stood out to us; we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of her spoken English and desire to learn and improve by conversing with us. She is a proactive student, who enjoys attending different activities and groups, such as volunteering for community service, teaching English to junior high school students, participating in English speech and debating competitions, a debating competition and attending English Language camps - whilst maintaining high grades.

Khansa is 17 and the oldest of five children. Her plan is to gain a place at university majoring in either Medicine and studying English. She wants to be a doctor because she likes how they lead, consult and how they solve problems. She thinks that having good English language is crucial to having more opportunities and obtaining a successful career.

Her family’s difficult financial situation  is hindering her prospect of attending university - a dream that she still hopes to achieve.

We asked Khansa why education is valuable to women?

"Women have responsibilities to themselves and also the community around them. That's why women need education, as well as men. It will give them more knowledge and a broader perspective to solve their problems in the future. In education there are no limits for anyone who wants to pursue it."
