Our Journey with Arina

Arina (Arin) was 17 years old and in her last year of High School when we first started communicating with her. She lived with her parents and 2 brothers.

Arina was doing very well at school, and excelling in different activities including entering a Social Science Olympiad in the district and winning a poetry reading competition.

She was very keen to continue studying and go on to University to develop and use her talents. She wanted to study developmental economics to learn how the economy works and to make changes to her country for a better future.

Arina's family could not afford the fees for her to go to University. Her father works and provides money for the family to live and for the children to go to school. Any extra money is being saved to build a family house so that they will not have to move again.

Finding a sponsor through Lenka Sisters, Arina was able to attend Mataram State University where she excelled and took on many other roles including public speaking and representing the university at conferences.

Arina is very thankful to her sponsors for helping her to achieve something that she once didn't think would be possible, continuing education after high school.

More Recently

Since graduating in March 2023 Arin has been entrepreneurial, creating a small gift business and a catering business in her village. The gift business involves making creative and decorative presents for special occasions. She works in the catering business with her mum. They have created a portable food stall and make food for parties and festivals. Arina is working to expand her businesses to provide employment to other local woman.

She would also like to study a masters degree before pursuing a career position in economics with the government or large business organisations.

Arin is hard working, organised and innovative. There are no limits to what Arin can achieve!!
